The Glass Castle: A Memoir by Jeannette Walls
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Jeanette Walls is a wonderful storyteller with a memory that makes me ooze with envy. The detailed recollection of her childhood is nothing short of astounding. I have to admit feeling angry through much of the book at the behavior her parents exhibit, but I trust that to be a rather typical response to this material. The narrative kept me rooting for a positive outcome and thankfully, the writing of the memoir itself is quite a triumph considering the long and torturous road she had to travel to find a sense of peace and control over her own life. A worthy read.
Magical Worlds of the Wizard of Ads: Tools and Techniques for Profitable Persuasion by Roy Williams
My review
rating: 5 of 5 stars
I LOVED THIS BOOK! It starts off with a lot of advertising psychology, which I enjoyed moderately, but then it took off in a much bigger life/dream direction. Williams used so many brilliant examples that were such a pleasure to listen to. He’s a brilliant story-teller and therein lies the magic of the book. I plan to read it again!

Blue Ocean Strategy: How to Create Uncontested Market Space and Make Competition Irrelevant by W. Chan Kim
My review
rating: 1 of 5 stars
Brilliant concept, I just could not get into this. I stopped in chapter 2. It read like a dissertation which had me wanting to spoon out my eyeballs. If they approached the innovative topic with as innovative an approach, I would have probably loved it.

Made to Stick: Why Some Ideas Survive and Others Die by Chip Heath
My review
rating: 5 of 5 stars
LOVED this book. I must have stopped listening (to the audiobook) a dozen times to act on new ideas and epiphanies I was having. To me, that’s always the test of a great business book–how many times does it stimulate great ideas that I feel compelled enough by to stop and act on them before continuing. This is a book I’ll probably listen to again.

I definitely enjoyed this and took away at least two actionable ideas that I have already implemented. Worth the read for sure!

The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream by Barack Obama
My review
rating: 5 of 5 stars
This was a perfect extension of Dreams From My Father. His first book painted the picture of who he was. Audacity of Hope was then a logical extension of Barack Obama’s philosophies. Poignant, honest, impressive.
