NEW YORK (May 15, 2009) – Author Angelica Harris has always had a passion for Medieval History, especially the Arthurian period. Her latest novel, “Excalibur Reclaims Her King,” (Writers of the Round Table Press, April 2009) with award-winning Actor, Producer and Director Corey Blake, takes a mother on a journey deep into the sixth century where she must battle an evil Queen, open the times gates to Camelot, and raise Arthur from the dead in order to travel back to Rome in search of the titulus of Christ. All in a day’s work for this 21st century New York City mom.

“Fantasy Fiction is probably one of the most beloved genres of our time,” said Harris, producer and director of the Hall of Imagination at Frankie’s Playce in Atlas Park. “It is my sanity. I step out of myself and into my characters. That’s what readers do as well. Fantasy Fiction allows readers to escape the dramatic times in their lives, whether it is the loss of a loved one, an illness, or a job loss due to the economy, and be inspired by heroes from today and centuries past. Writing ‘Excalibur’ helped me to come full circle with my life. I believe it will do the same for others as well.”

The adventure center’s around the life of Arianna, a 21st century homemaker and mother. Poisoned in the 6th century, Merlin calls into the future for Excalibur’s guardian – Arianna – to claim her right as a high priestess, battle a witch who is terrorizing Camelot, and raise Arthur from the dead, all to fulfill an ancient prophesy and unite the religions of the 6th century under Christ (see additional information about the legend of Excalibur in separate press release).

“We’ve worked hard to create an alternate world that is fun to dip into,” said Blake, who is also president of Writers of the Round Table. “This is the kind of book you read late at night by candlelight. I think that we all love our imaginations to be ignited, and Angelica and I worked hard to create a story that readers will feel they are ‘in the room’ with.”

Harris’ intense research capabilities have allowed her to create a factual journey into the sixth century for readers. She invented a Pagan language using the Druid language she studied from Celtic mythology to create the linguistics of the speech in “Excalibur Reclaims Her King.” Her two other novels, “The Quest for Excalibur” and “Excalibur and the Holy Grail,” were accepted in the Royal Library in North Kensington and Chelsea London, England for their historic accuracy in King Arthur Folklore.

“The characters in Excalibur will be familiar to anyone aware of the stories of King Arthur, but [Excalibur’s] hero is a contemporary woman that today’s teens can certainly relate to,” said David Rafferty, executive producer, ISD Renaissance Festival. “Arianna is a modern day woman caught between two worlds, who understands what she must do in the past in order to protect future history. The authors give Arianna great strength and character, making her a hero and a role model that both parents and their kids can relate to.”
