Annie posted this yesterday while I was on a plane! I only read the very beginning and then decided I wanted to be surprised, so I’m posting this blindly. I’m off to hit the showers before we meet for coffee in 38 minutes!

Mapping Out the Structure of a Story Journey
Shhh…..don’t tell Corey but I’m planning out the structure for his story adventure for the weekend and I wanted to give you a preview. The reason that I’m not telling Corey is that he will do best to be surprised by me :>)
He’s a highly creative person and he’s the one that usually generates the creative energy for others. So I need to be on my tippy toes to match him and keep him at the top of his creative game.
So this is the outline of his plan. If you remember, Corey wants to “Create an Emotional Story Journey That Drives Unexpected Epiphanies.”
To accomplish this goal, I’ve identified four central processes and our weekend will revolve around exercises that make this happen. The four pillars of our journey are:
- Use Real Emotion From the Body - To generate emotion in others, you need access your own. For this step we are going to work with movement & non-verbal storytelling.
- Speak Directly to the Message Maker - If you want to create epiphanies in your audience, you need to speak directly to the unconscious part of the mind that is our message maker. We will work with skills of hypnosis so that Corey’s message has a compelling impact.
- Use the Space That Connects - Often when we are speaking, our focus is on ourselves, but the key to connecting with your audience is to utilize the invisible energy that connects you and your audience. Sound intriguing? Stay tuned for more! I’m going to get Corey to report on this later.
- Create a Performance State - I like to call this ‘Discovering Your Personal Pizzazz.’ Each of us has a state of being where we feel enlivened, energized & inspired. Anchoring this state into the body allows you to begin your speech with this energy right from the start, rather than taking time to warm up while while people are watching you.
