Where to Go?

I have decided to write this morning in an effort to find some clarity on where we need to go next. I feel confident that we have mastered development. We know how to build an exceptional story that emotionally moves people. Great. Check. We have also mastered building an author’s platform. Awesome. Check.  We are currently learning to master the art of PR and master the art of building a speaker’s network for our author’s to drive them revenue. Great. Love building all of that. Now we get to sales and distribution. For some reason, though I am researching my butt off, I am having trouble finding passion in this area. The reason for this, I believe is that it feels to me like it is so lacking in creativity, while all of these other areas are full of creation and magic.  My gut feeling is that distribution is not something I am going to master in the next few years, nor is it something we can afford if we partner with a distributor, but remain the publishing entity — the cost of printing and absorbing returns seems to put most small presses out of business.  So where do we go from here?  I am wondering today if it is time to begin to approach agents again?  Now that we have finished products in hand that are stunning, now that we have platforms built and the marketing and PR machines are working, maybe it’s time to go back to commercial publishing and test the waters again. I’m going to remain open to the universe on this one for a bit. If anyone has opinions they care to share with me, I welcome them to corey@writersoftheroundtable.com. Thanks as always for listening!
